Lockout/Tagout

Upon completion of this learning event, employees will demonstrate knowledge of how lockout/tagout programs work and the different roles workers must play to make them successful. Employees will learn to identify the importance of proper lockout/tagout procedures, what workers are authorized to perform those procedures, the special provisions of lockout/tagout programs, and more.  This course is provided to assist the employer in meeting the requirements of OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1910.147. Workplace specific information will need to be provided by the employer.  The employer may also be interested in the courses Machine Guarding and Hazard Communication.

Content of the course

1. Introduction and objectives
2. Identify the importance of proper lockout/tagout procedures
3. Determine who is authorized to perform lockout/tagout
4. Recognize the required tasks of the authorized employee during lockout/tagout
5. Recognize lock systems and tags for lockout/tagout
6. Identify the special provisions of a lockout/tagout system
