On completion of the this training event, the participant will display the ability to

1. recognize the definition of a trench or excavation,
2. common hazards associated with trenches and excavations, and OSHA’s requirements for worker safety in and around trenches and excavations
3. precautions to be taken for safe trenching & excavation

This program is intended to assist the industries in meeting OSHA Standards 29 CFR 1926.650 through 652.

Content of the course

1. Identify the OSHA regulations and definitions that apply to trenching and excavation
2. Recognize the potential hazards associated with excavation and trenching
3. Identify the responsibilities of the employee and competent person
4. Identify various safe work practices.
5. Recognize the potential hazards associated with excavation and trenching
6. Identify various safe work practices for trenching and excavation work
